C\TREK provides detailed information regarding the CICS/TS system.  The menu is divided into two major areas, the top part that provides information regarding the individual CICS domains.  Detailed domain information, including control block structure is provided in this area.  The bottom part provides detailed information that eases the process of tuning CICS.  Some of the options available for tuning CICS include information regarding:

  • Operating System – provides a series of displays that the CICS system programmer should review to ensure that CICS has the proper resources assigned from an operating system point of view.  Important review areas include the amount of virtual storage available to CICS, the system priority, the CICS paging activity, the amount of TCB CPU cycles being consumed by each TCB subset (CICS, MQ Series, Sockets, DB2 etc.) within CICS and other important data

  • Performance Options – provides a series of displays that can be used to tune the different CICS resources.  Options available include information regarding System Initialization Table (SIT) specifications, Temporary Storage, System utilization of CPU and storage resources, File (VSAM including LSR and NSR) and program definitions.

  • D2 – provides information regarding the DB2 interface with CICS including recommendations for thread (L8) definitions for either the DB2 entries or pool.
